Welcome to Lucky Lab Armory
Growing up, I remember listening to the stories that my father and grandfather told me talking about how guns stores used to be. They were small "mom and pop" shops that locals could come by to check in harvested game, swap reloading recipes, check out quality products, and tell their latest hunting story. Just like everything else, it seems that gun stores have to adapt to the follow the big box store philosophies to stay competitive. Yes, being a low cost producer of quality goods is important, but you lack the personal connection with the person standing behind the products in their store.
The deeper that my outdoor hobbies grew, the more I wished that we could go back to the "good ole days" from the stories that I used to hear. Well to my surprise, here Alyson and I are pursuing a hobby and business venture that allows use to bring back the good ole days. This whole idea started when I heard my wife, Alyson, ask me if I would be interested in getting our FFL, Federal Firearms License. My jaw about hit the floor when she asked me that. Ever since, it has been full steam ahead.
After jumping through the hoops of all the local, state, and federal licensing requirements, we were finally approved. During this process, Alyson and I had to come out with a business name, which was probably the easiest part of this whole process. We have two very lucky, very spoiled, Labrador Retrievers that are basically our kids. Fur-babies to be exact. Colt, the yellow lab, and Kimber, the black lab, go everywhere with us, from visiting state parks to going through the local coffee shop drive through with their heads sticking out the truck windows with their eyes about bugging out from the barista handing out those sweet, sweet pup cups. Thinking about how lucky they are, it was easy to decide upon Lucky Lab Armory. Below is a photo of our family.
It was only a matter of time before I end up working in the firearm industry since both my father and grandfather dabbled in firearms. My dad loved his time working at Poff's Sporting Goods when he was around my age, and my grandfather actually had his own FFL at one point in time. Steve's Sport Shop was his way of wheeling and dealing sporting goods supplies to fund his fishing hobby/way of life and keep my grandmother from coming giving him an ear full. When I first told him about Alyson and I applying for a FFL, it brought a smile to his face and hours worth of stories about his business experience. Unfortunately, he passed away before I could give him the good news of our application being approved. I do have a feeling that he is keeping an eye on our store between reeling in lunkers. Below is a photo of my grandfather, Steve Karanovich.
With all of that being said, We are a small, mom and pop shop the specializes in silencers and offer digital fingerprinting. Along with that, we offer numerous thermal optics and quality firearms. We look forward to serving you and helping out in any way that we possibly can. We will be doing our best to keep our blog filled with various content including product reviews, reloading data, wild game recipes, outdoors trips, and more.
